Best New Bands and Atlantic Records are giving away a vinyl copy of Vance Joy‘s recent debut album, dream your life away, signed by the ukulele-wielding singer-songwriter!
Vance Joy is the moniker of Australian James Keogh. Best New Bands named him one of our Artists To Watch In 2014 and he went on to have one of the biggest alternative music hits of the year with his single, “Riptide.” The song is platinum in the U.S. and has sold nearly four million copies worldwide. While “Riptide” is currently climbing the top 40 charts, a follow-up single, “Mess Is Mine,” is rapidly ascending the alternative radio chart.

When dream your life away was released last September, our rave review called Joy “the Jeff Buckley of his generation” and said the album “will hold its place atop record collections for years to come.” The 27-year-old has just announced plans for a major North American headline tour. The trek begins April 9 and includes festival appearances at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, Hangout Music Fest 2015, Boston Calling Music Festival, and Governors Ball NYC Music Festival.

In an interview with Best New Bands last year, Joy talked about his songwriting process: “sometimes I come across great lines in books, films and other songs that inspire me. Songwriting can be about incorporating themes from those sources into the thought process, and reworking those ideas into my own words.” In that same interview, he also explains where his alias comes from and who some of his favorite performers are.
