Here we are up to Day 4 of CMJ Music Marathon, and Friday night is no different from the other days, if not busier. Once again, there are plenty of options for either finding one great showcase to hang out at all night, or skipping around the city like a wild music fiend. How to start off Friday, October 21st is a tough call, as two great lineups are happening at the same time.

Beginning at 7pm, Music Hall of Williamsburg hosts the BrooklynVegan CMJ Showcase, featuring the tropical pop of Blue Hawaii, Pepper Rabbit, Active Child, Braids, and Weekend, who we really can’t get enough of.

However, back over at Mercury Lounge where you have another chance to catch the always fun experimental pop of Cuckoo Chaos also kicks off at 7pm, followed by Electric Guest, the already ubiquitous Gauntlet Hair, the beautifully melodic High Highs, We Barbarians, Purity Ring, Small Black, and Drop the Lime going till 2:45am.

Neon Indian
If you’d rather just dance it up right away, the electro stylings of Neon Indian will be at Webster Hall. His set starts at the magic time of the night – 7pm.

Talkdemonic
At 7:45pm the more cerebral, orchestrated post-rock band Talkdemonic plays at Pianos.

Love of Everything
We haven’t highlighted much of South Brooklyn for the fest, and tonight’s a good night to head to The Rock Shop in Park Slope, where Joan of Arc bassist Bobby Burg’s band Love of Everything hits at 7:45pm.

Lady Lamb the Beekeeper has already been highlighted several times on BestNewBands.com, and if you haven’t caught her live yet you should probably just head over to Rockwood Music Hall to see her perform at 8pm.
