Interview and in-studio performance with Burial at Sea

This week I journeyed north of Hollywood to meet with the three members of Burial at Sea at their studio in the appropriately-named Laurel Canyon. They welcomed me into a small space filled to the rafters with musical gear, graciously offering me a beer to combat the afternoon heat. We covered the basics of how they came together and their plans for the future, but they also had a lot of interesting insights about modern music, why they don’t need a pre-show ritual, and why having an odd number of band members is the key to a successful recording session.
