The Gromble is pretty much everything you could want in a modern rock band: besides being proficient musicians and elegant, intelligent lyricists, they're the kind of songwriters that know exactly how and when to satisfy and then exceed the listener's expectations. Upon meeting five of the six members (and cracking many a joke at the sleep-related absence of the sixth member) I was happy to discover that they were all as bright and fun to be around as their music, and the above interview is the product of the afternoon we spent chatting about the important things in life.
We covered as many aspects of their current musical project as possible, touching on other important topics like mythological creatures, Hanson, and of course, Lilith Fair. Don't miss the saxophone serenade to the mallard duck who joined us, and be sure to give their track "Toto" a listen below to hear what The Gromble's music sounds like.
If you missed The Gromble at The Mint in Los Angeles last week, then catch their last two Tuesday night residency performances at La Cave in Costa Mesa or the House of Blues in Anaheim on June 18th. For tickets and more information on their upcoming tour dates, please like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter. Don't forget to check out their latest self-titled record (album cover pictured below) now available on iTunes.
Laurel was born in the great state of Texas but grew up in the slightly backwards state of Minnesota. As soon as she was old enough to hitchhike safely, she thumbed it back to good ol' Texas, enrolling in the University of North Texas. While there, her mind was blown by the incredibly rich and diverse musical landscape of Denton which prompted her to begin writing about her concert-going adventures. She now resides in LA, where her life's goal is to spread the good word about good music. That, and becoming best friends with Chelsea Handler (whichever comes first).
