MIXTAPE #5

This is an especially good one. It’ll help you get a groove on, rock out, and also chill out, man. This past week I saw Slam Donahue live at Glasslands, so I had to give them another shout. Zach caught Poor Moon, and after being patient through their set up that really does take forever, they had him at “Holiday.” Katrina interviewed Incan Abraham, so we could all be in on their fantasy trip to Peru and what’s on their “Best Of 2012” list, among other things. Dan reviewed Jack Davey’s brand new solo EP, and recommended “Shit Gets Deep” and “Get Up!” as the two standout tracks; the latter of which is on the mix. Also on this mix is Ava Luna’s “Ice Level,” which we highlighted on our tour preview along with the new video for the song, because we’re not tired of it yet.

In addition to those features, you’ll be getting a good dose of soul with Sophia Bastian’s “Breaking.”

New Zealand psych punk pop band Popstrangers also have a debut full length planned for the early new year, and recently unveiled the first single “Heaven” to sink in to your ears.

Indie alt rock outfit Midnight Spin are releasing their debut album in January, but are giving the people a taste of what’s to come with “Lion Run.”

Hayden is releasing a new album Us Alone on Arts & Crafts in February, and the leading track “Old Dreams” is definitely worth a listen.

Paradise was on our very first Mixtape, and now she’s shared the piano only version of the song “Psychic Returns,” which is the b-side to her I Love Thousands Every Summer 7 inch. You can also listen to the fleshed out with the video below. It’s pretty bliss.
