Barsuk Records is excited to announce that Yellow Ostrich are heading out on a fall tour in support of their latest album Strange Land. The headlining tour begins October 26th at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia and wraps up November 14th at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. The jaunt also includes dates with Sharon Van Etten. In conjunction with the tour, the band is releasing a 6-song effort entitled Ghost on October 23rd, available digitally and on vinyl exclusively at these shows. Full tour dates are below.
Recently, Yellow Ostrich released the video for “The Shakedown.” Singer/guitarist Alex Schaaf described the making of the video: “We made this video ourselves in Michael’s basement. With no budget and minimal gear, we explored the beauty of darkness. The white light represents the past, and the black light represents the future. Should I stay or should I go?”
Strange Land is the follow-up to the acclaimed The Mistress, and is self-produced with engineer Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Sparklehorse). With multi-instrumentalist Jon Natchez and drummer Michael Tapper in the fold, Strange Land presents Yellow Ostrich fully formed, no longer a bedroom project, but rather now a full-fledged power trio.
