Last week was a bit of a big deal due to the Grammys, which is an awards ceremony that some people may have watched like we did. We couldn’t help but point out out favorite highlights, which just so happened to include several artists that we’ve mentioned previously on the site. Anybody heard of Gotye? Yeah ok, so it only makes complete sense that he’s on this week’s mix, even if we tried to shake it up just a little by not throwing on the track that everyone expects, since as Katrina previously pointed out, he’s so much more than that one song we all know. So there’s that, plus that other tune everyone knows from Fun. Because tonight, we’re young. We’ve also got our favorite tune from Cuckoo Chaos, who may be one of our most-covered bands on the site ever, a nod to our latest album review of the now quite ubiquitous Jim James, and another shout to new favorite Hank & Cupcakes.
NY/LA duo Javelin has a new record coming out this Spring, and have been playing tons of shows in support of that, including a set at NYC’s Natural History Museum last week. That means extra bonus points for being catchy and liking dinosaurs.
Darwin Deez released his new album Songs for Imaginative People early in the week, and we’ve got a jam off that for you.
Vancouver’s garage rockin Dead Ghosts, also have an album coming out, and their first single is an ode to Roky Erickson from psychedelic granddaddies 13th Floor Elevators, titled “Roky Said.”
The cool and satisfying Black Marble have announced a west coast tour, plus released a new video for the track “A Great Design.”
