This Friday night at House of Vans is going to be an all-out new generation punk rock party. There will also be beers a-plenty and tacos in the back outdoor patio, and…oh yeah – Fucked Up, Cro-Mags, Screaming Females, and Pissed Jeans. No doubt most rsvp-ers are psyched to jump around and do windmill moves to the seasoned hardcore punk thrash metal Cro-Mags, and more recently breaking Fucked Up, but I think the gem in this lineup is Brunswick, NJ’s Screaming Females. They are the up-and-comers to watch out for, having already released 4 full length albums, played hundreds of shows, gotten recognition in magazines like Spin and Rolling Stone, and lead singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster kicks a fair amount of ass.

Screaming Females’ live show has already been praised by BestNewBand.com’s Daniela Montelongo when she caught them in June and strongly recommended catching them live. I have to agree that this show, especially in with the context of the lineup, is going to be solid and powerful.
Doors are at 5pm, with Pissed Jeans scheduled to hit at 7pm. Entry to this show is all ages, free and first come-first served, but it doesn’t hurt to RSVP. It’s waiting list only at this point, but if you get there early you’ll most likely get in.
Fairly obvious warning: there’s going to be a huge pit at this show, so if you’re not the biggest hardcore fan but still want to see the bands, it’s best to stay on the outskirts to avoid an elbow to the face.
