Courtney Barnett’s full-length debut album, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit is out next Tuesday, via Mom+Pop Music. Anxious fervor has been growing in the months and weeks leading up to the release and things have only reached a new high with Barnett’s latest promotional effort. This past Monday, Barnett and her band made their debut on Ellen, alongside First Lady Michelle Obama, and performed a beautiful rendition of the single, “Depreston.” (Check out the video for the single in this Best New Bands piece.)
After a performance on a platform as well known as Ellen, for those fans that are practically jumping up with impatience waiting for Barnett’s album to be released, the wait is over! (Well, at least waiting to hear all the songs that is.) Right now, Sometimes I Sit And Think and Sometimes I Just Sit, can be heard in its entirety through iTunes Radio First Play.
Courtney Barnett and her band are presently in Austin for SXSW and for the droves of music lovers in attendance, there are several showcases where Barnett will be playing! There’s even an opportunity to hear the album performed from beginning to end –head to Stubbs for an NPR First Listen Live on Wednesday night (tonight!) and then festival goers can look forward to a special art show, highlighting Barnett’s illustrations and a live performance presented in partnership with Tumblr. These and many more shows are all coming up in the next few days.
