New York – Two heavy hitters of the music world, synth-pop artist, Grimes (Claire Boucher), and indie pop act, Bleachers (Jack Antonoff), recently teamed up to create and release a completely new track titled, “Entropy.” The new collaborative creation debuted on the most recent installment of the HBO program, Girls and was co-written by both artists specifically for the show. Viewers and fans of the two artists need not be frustrated if the episodes left them eager to replay the song, as it is already available for digital purchase.
Despite “Entropy” not being an official single for either Grimes or Bleaches upcoming musical projects, the duo were both equally anxious to put together a new track in the studio together. This is not surpirse, given the success of their previous collaboration with the song “Take Me Away,” which is from Bleachers’s highly praised debut album, Strange Desire (via RCA Records).
Detailing his newest experience working with Boucher, Antonoff wastes no breath speaking with much respect and esteem of his musical cohort,
“Working with Claire is incredible. She functions completely in her own artistic space and being allowed into it has changed me as a writer deeply. In the room together there is nothing that feels off limits. We ended making this off blend of super high-fi sounds mixed with the creepiest shit ever like an acoustic recorded into a computer. It was beyond special[.]“
In return, Boucher has nothing but appreciation for Antonoff –both as an artist and as a friend,
“I’m very lucky to have a friend as talented as Jack. He really pushed me out of my comfort zone with this song and I feel very proud of our work. It was my first attempt at writing something with a country vibe[.]”
Jack Antonoff’s debut, Strange Desire, was released to excited fans only this past July. The album’s leading single, “I Wanna Get Better” gained much recognition through alternative radio charts and the album’s second single, “Rollercoaster,” is following not far behind. Bleachers made their network television debut on the NBC show, Late Night With Seth Meyers and performances on Late Night Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live,Conan and an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show came soon thereafter.
Beyond his credentials as a musician of many skills, Antonoff is also a very active songwriter and producer. More recently he was noted for collaborating with Taylor Swift; co-writing and producing her chart topping hit “Out of the Woods,” along with two other tracks from her Platinum selling album, 1989. Antonoff also received a nomination for the 2014 Golden Globes for his collaboration with Swift on her hit song “Sweeter Than Fiction.” In addition to Swift, the Bleachers-creator has worked with Sara Bareilles, Canadian indie duo, Tegan and Sara, and more.
Bleachers is currently on the road for the “Bleachers Come Alive!” tour!
