You’ll Want To Add Skinny Lister ‘s New Single To Your Next Playlist

Skinny Lister

New York – The six musicians that make up folk punk band, Skinny Lister (Lorna Thomas, Daniel Heptinstall, Maxwell Thomas, Michael Camino, Thom Mills and Sam Brace), are striking while the iron is hot and have released a new single, “This Is War,” from their soon-to-arrive second album, Down On Deptford Broadway.

(Fans of Skinny Lister will appreciate Best New Bands’ review of the band’s show at Club Nokia.)

After playing through a very busy week during this year’s SXSW Festival and with the London-based band having just completed a circuit of European shows in support of Chuck Ragan, Skinny Lister have plenty of eyes and ears focused on them and this new song comes at just the right time to harness all this energy. “This is War” is a track that plays out like a call to arms –upbeat, uplifting and keeping listeners engaged. The single adeptly embodies and projects the group’s collective enthusiasm in a way that very easily gets people stomping to the beat.

Down On Deptford Broadway is a confident sophomore effort. A record built up with well crafted songwriting that connects aspects of folk music with the ferocity of punk, and rock ‘n’ roll that is teeming with sing-a-long choruses, this album strongly compliments the memorable exuberance of Skinny Lister’s live shows. The single last released in promotion of the album, “Trouble On Oxford Street,” earned support from John Kennedy at XFM and Steve Lamacq at 6Music.

Skinny Lister’s tour with Chuck Ragan brought shows throughout the U.K. and Europe in March and now the group from Greenwich will be headlining their own tour during April and May.

Right from the beginning, the members of Skinny Lister were determined to make both disruptions and friends; journeying to all parts of the world and bringing with them, their singular, rum-soaked mix of English folk and punk rock disorder. Playing in places that extend all the way from Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival to the desert stage of California’s famed Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, via the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury, Skinny Lister are all about giving, and being, an unforgettable experience for their fans.

Pre-order for Down On Deptford Broadway (out April 21, 2015 via Xtra Mile Recordings) is available now through iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.
