Also taking place over New Year’s weekend, where the climate is currently more temperate, is Pyramid Rock Festival. The backdrop for this fest is Phillip Island, which apparently is renowned for some of the best surf and swim beaches in Victoria, AUS. It’s a great place to hear new music. All tickets to the fest, which runs from Thursday, December 29th to Sunday, January 1st, include free camping and are available as two- and three-day passes. This is the last year that the festival will be all ages. In 2012, it will be restricted to 18+ only.

The lineup includes Scissor Sisters, Grandmaster Flash, Dum Dum Girls, French Horn Rebellion, plus recent winner of 6 ARIA awards Gotye (pictured) on the main stage, and lots of new bands. Check the full list of bands here, and have a look at their recap from last year:
