Sacramento’s Sister Crayon at Silver Lake Jubilee

Sacramento’s indie/electro/trip hoppers Sister Crayon headlined at the Sunset Stage Saturday night at the Silver Lake Jubilee, performing just as the festival reached a slow-to-build climax. Lead singer Terra Lopez had nothing but praise for the city of Los Angeles, though she did admit that the SLJ crowd trumped the band’s audience the previous night at The Echo. She moved restlessly around the stage, casting a riveting spell with her ethereal vocals that seemed to know no bounds. The band played a great set, and it was obvious that the band was feeding off of the festival’s energy and loving everyone’s involvement in the show. They were by far the most festival-friendly band, and after covering their incredible set at South by Southwest this year they’ve solidified their place in my mind as one of the next big up-and-comers on the festival circuit;  I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it onto next year’s Bonnaroo or Outside Lands lineup. Be sure to check out their videos above and below for “I’m Still the Same Person” and “Stem” respectively.

If you’re in the San Francisco area, you can catch Sister Crayon at The Independent with The Album Leaf and Casino on June 3rd. The event is 21+ and advance tickets are now available here for $15.
