I headed over the hill and through the canyon last night to check out my favorite South African imports the Parlotones- and as expected, they did NOT disappoint! Because at a Parlotones show you come to expect the unexpected, I showed up early to indulge in a little pre-show vice myself, and the Parlotones’ wine was definitely worth missing the fashionably late deadline. Seeing as the Red was a “giant mistake” I was more of a “push me to the floor” (white) kind of girl- and the small room at the Viper was packed wall to wall with other willing Parlotones participants.

Seeking refuge on a small seat I did the whole fly on the wall thing- and was in complete awe at their turnout. Just a few months ago I’d come to see them at the Viper Room and it was indeed full- but nothing like the sardine style box I’d wedged my way into tonight! I’m talking several So Cal girls had come into the Viper venue with their hair perfectly in place, and left in an afrotastic manner due to the humidity caused by way too many people in one place at one time. If these girls were willing to through caution (and style) to the wind- you know the show’s totally worth it. Or, they made several “giant mistakes” beforehand!

I caught up with some of the boys streetside on Sunset (I had to battle several other girls street stalking Khan for autographs) to get the 411 on their “giant mistake!”
