Oceanography Premieres Black And White Video For “Drinking Water”

Oceanography-Band

Though Oceanography’s roots seem to be planted in gothic Americana, there is one thing founder Brian Kelly wants to make clear: this is not a folk outfit. He’s not just some guy singing and playing guitar. And after hearing tracks off the band’s newest EP, Parachutes of Plenty, this sentiment is made abundantly clear. Though guitar is the music’s driving force, it creates large, anthemic soundscapes while Kelly wails in his gravelly, Springsteen-esque voice.

Today, we are proud to premiere the visual accompaniment for the EP’s first single, “Drinking Water.” Filmed in black and white, the video begins with a shot of Kelly, and pulls back through his house and out into the street. It continues, through the neighborhood and into the city, on a quest to find Kelly’s love as he sings “Now we live in different towns / Drinking different drinking water.” And don’t worry, it’s a happy ending. The camera finds her at the end. Watch the video for “Drinking Water” below:
