MP3 Premiere: The Assembly Line – “Tonight (There’s Only Us)”

How great is Craigslist? You can find anything you need – housing, event tickets, knick-knacks, and apparently band members. Four years ago, Thor Nguyen was bored of his routine in pharmaceutical research and decided to take a chance with his real passion: music. After self-releasing an EP, he decided to recruit a whole band and posted an ad on Craigslist.

Upon the responses were guitarist Chris Potter, bassist Zach Falkow and drummer Josh  Ridley. Together, the four-piece makes The Assembly Line, and in the years that have followed the band has released a full-length album, received spots in hit MTV shows, and toured with the likes of pop-punk giants Yellowcard. On September 17, the quartet will release a new EP, The Places We Leave Behind, and today we are happy to premiere the their latest single, “Tonight (There’s Only Us)”.

Acting as the EP’s opener, this track is a great indication of what’s to come for the Brooklyn-based pop-punkers. It begins soft and delicate before bursting into a playful melody led by guitars and percussion. When Nguyen’s vocals break through the instrumentation takes the back-burner and his powerful voice becomes the main focus, letting fans old and new see that The Assembly Line is a contender in the pop punk scene.
