Legendary Portland record store Music Millenium will be hosting two of Portland’s indie veterans this week, the beloved men of The Decemberists and the lesser-known but also talented Dolorean. The record store, which has been around since 1969 and is known for its huge selection of music and knowledgeable staff, as well as the fact that you can literally still buy records there. The Pacific Northwest’s oldest record store, SPIN magazine has rate it #9 on the list of best record stores in the country two years running.

The store consistently has great in-store performances scheduled, but for Portlanders the lineup this week is bigger names than expected. On Tuesday January 18th The Decemberists will participate in a free in-store performance at Music Millenium and also hold a CD signing for the band’s latest release, The King Is Dead. The free show is at 7 pm, but we suggest arriving early to snag a good view. It is a free show, after all.

The mellow crooners of Dolorean will be performing in-store next Saturday at 3 pm. This show is also free and will be in support of the band’s upcoming album, The Unfazed, which will be released January 18th. We suggest checking out both these shows this week to see some legendary (at least in the music world) Portlanders do their thing, for free!

The Decemberists at Music Millenium: Tuesday January 18th, 7 pm. FREE. Dolorean at Music Millenium: Saturday January 22nd, 3 pm. FREE.
