Portlanders can enjoy a night of mellow indie-folk at one of the rose city’s best music venues this Friday. Head to the Doug Fir early for some dinner or to enjoy some of the great happy hour bar food. Walk around the trendy East Burnside neighborhood or stick around at the bar until show time, there are always fun and interesting people to be met. The Doug Fir curates its shows with great taste, so we doubt you will be disappointed.

Headlining the show is Peter Wolf Crier, a lo-fi folk duo from Minneapolis that was created after Peter Pisano spontaneously shared a few songs with friend Brian Moen. Those few songs eventually developed into the band’s debut album, Inter-Be, on the Jagjaguwar label. The songs of Peter Wolf Crier are softly hewn from bits and pieces of folk and modern indie rock. The patchwork sound of the duo seems relaxed and unconcerned with being polished. The songs are quite happy sounding a little rough around the edges, just the way they should be.

Harder indie-rock group Retribution Gospel Choir will get the crowd revved up with their soaring choruses and classic jam solos and fans of The Black Keys and The Kooks will enjoy the bluesy tunes of first-round opener Little Hurricane.

The Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Oregon. 9pm. 21+. $10
