The Kills Are Bringing Blues To A Sold Out Terminal 5 On Friday, 4/29!

On the heels of the success of their jaw-dropping fourth studio album, Blood Pressures, a performance on Conan, and a head-bobbing performance at Coachella, The Kills are bringing their style of jam to Terminal 5 in New York City on Friday, April 29. Supported by Cold Cave and The Entrance Band, it will be a night of musical exploration.

In my review of their record, which you can see here, I mentioned how there are multiple sides to this band. They are constantly evolving, constantly finding new elements to incorporate to their sound without it being a “schtick.” In “Satellite” you hear the reggae-infused riffs behind Mosshart’s wail, and it’s not an act. They really are a lo-fi indie rock band reinventing themselves, and sometimes–admittedly failing in the process.

The show at Terminal 5, and this tour, will be an exhibition of their success as a duo. Make no mistake, you need equal parts Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart for The Kills to work. So on the 29th, don’t expect the aloof behavior of The Strokes, or even the weird sexual tension of The xx. Just stand there and pay attention as Allison and Jamie do what they do best: inject some blues into modern rock music.

You can catch The Kills traveling in the Midwest, California and Canada until mid-May, before they’ll take a well-deserved break. Through the end of May, they will be on international soil, touring until July. You can find more info on where exactly the band will be here.
