This week, charismatic indie rockers The Veda Rays release the first of two EPs, Die Fast. After 2011 saw the band through their debut release, an east coast tour down to SXSW and back, lineup changes, and refining their live show, TVR is back with a slew of new songs as chronicles of their sonic shifting. As the masterminds themselves put it, “Here once again, Jim Stark and Jason Gates project their home movies upon unadorned walls, giving us clues as to what ghosts might be dragging chains through the halls of Chez Veda Rays.”
The band has been hard at work recording and mixing the tracks for these EPs ever since they offered an advanced copy of “Old Long Since Now” as a New Year’s gift to fans. Now the track gets a proper release on the Die Fast EP, along with the driving-with-the-top-down radio friendly single “Better the Devil,” and dreamy slow jams “Blew By You,” and “Cop Knock.”

Die Fast’s more brooding Siamese twin Life Kills EP is due out October 9th, and promises to include standout track “Time is a Vise,” featuring the ethereal vocals of Julee Cruise, which you may recognize from the Twin Peak’s theme song, as well as being David Lynch’s house chanteuse.
