Well since two founding members of Paramore- Josh and Zac Farro- have decided to 86 their namesake, you may be experiencing withdrawals. You may feel the need to go out and find an immediate replacement, a semi distraction from the inevitable pain you’ll experience when first missing the female led rock group.
Since twelve step programs are so last year (well- in three days they will be) we have an immediate solution in the form of music, and of course- music IS indeed the very best therapy. Welcome My Arcadia and their album “City By The Sea” originally released in September 2009- which you can now (luckily, thank you Santa!) can snag for free on the band’s bandcamp page!
The beautifully hypnotic vocals layered on top of an intense rock background is an idyllic union of opposites attracting, and not to be missed by rock fans (and Paramore withdrawal victims) alike.
Most notably off the album be sure to scope out “Lulea” and my personal fave “The Messenger.” Both have the enthusiasm worthy of in the car concerts and a little in the shower sing along solos as well- after all, ‘tis the season to be vocal.
The main difference between Paramore and this next of kin (genre-wise) is My Arcadia’s unpredictability music wise, something slightly lacking in Paramore’s tunes. Not that I didn’t enjoy Paramore’s tunes- I am totally guilty of singing along, but I like not knowing exactly what’s to come within the track every so often.
Be sure to download the track stat, while it’s still sans a fee, and ring in the new year with a little rock!
