I’m pretty judgmental when it comes to covering the classics- say, I don’t know- a Fleetwood Mac or Bruce Springsteen track.  My main criteria is, if you’re bold enough to attempt the cover- you need to make it your own- because you clearly can’t sound like the classic.  First that’s a fast way to piss diehard fans off, and second- been there done that, craving something new.  Enter White Arrows.  The sextet (Mickey, Rob Banks, Steven Vernet, J.P. Caballero, Damon, Henry) have actually managed to manipulate tunes from the likes of both aforementioned artists- and adapt the songs as their own, and in their own right- which is pretty damn impressive.  Even those skeptical of the songs must agree that White Arrows are adding a fresh element to old school.  Their cover of Fleetwood’s “Save Me A Place” is reeking of innovation and highly charged with their electromagnetic musical sounds!  You can check out their track www.myspace.com/whitearrows, and watch for them on HBO’s Entourage later this month!  Thanks to White Arrows for letting us pass this along to our Bestnewbands.com readers!
