Badflower Releases Debut EP ‘Temper’

Badflower - Best New Bands

New York – Los Angeles rock ‘n’ roll band Badflower has unleashed its major label debut EP, Temper (John Varvatos Records/Republic Records). Badflower is comprised of members Josh Katz (vocals, guitar), Joe Morrow (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alex Espiritu (bass), and Anthony Sonetti (drums). Of the Temper EP, Josh Katz notes, “There was a moment while making this EP that I feared people might not take it seriously. That it was too angry, too imperfect, too honest. We had to break all the rules of mainstream music to make this exactly the way we wanted to – in our garage, with only ourselves as the writers, engineers and producers. Then I had an epiphany ‘Sales are for the suits, art is for the artist, and f**k you if you don’t like it.”

The EP features five tracks including “Animal” and the fan favorite “Heroin.” Tapping into primal passion and animalistic energy, the four musicians sink their teeth into rock ‘n’ roll tradition, while infusing their own singular spirit. Check out the full tracklisting below.

In regard to Badflower, legendary fashion designer and label founder John Varvatos exclaims, “These guys are the real deal! They write killer songs with amazing hooks,” adding Badflower is ”everything that’s missing from rock music today.”

In addition, Apple Music has selected Badflower as its New Artist of the Week. The New Artist of the Week program features up-and-coming artists, editorially selected by Apple Music.

The ability to exorcise pure and palpable emotion is Badflower’s calling card. It’s also a big reason why the group quietly became one of L.A.’s most buzzed-about rock ‘n’ roll bands. Since the band’s emergence in 2014, it has shared stages with the likes of KONGOS and The Veronicas, earned acclaim from OC WeeklyLoudwire, and more, and achieved a two-week run at #1 on KROQ’s Locals Only Show with “Heroin.” In 2016, fashion icon John Varvatos personally signed the band to John Varvatos Records.

Following up an explosive run supporting Billy Talent, the group will embark on its first tour of 2017 supporting rock mainstays Pop Evil and Red Sun Rising. The tour begins January 10 at Mercury Ballroom in Louisville, KY, hits major markets around the country, and concludes February 24 at The Fillmore Detroit in Detroit, MI. Tickets are on sale now.
