“The Wombats will be rocking out at Silverlake’s Satellite (formerly Spaceland) this Wednesday, January 12, and you do not want to miss the chance to check out these U.K. imports. The indie rock trio is well worth the twelve to fourteen dollar investment for L.A.’s twenty-one and over crowd, so accessorize with your fave partner-in-crime and get to steppin out in Silverlake!”

From Laurel Kathleen:
“You might remember the name Matthew and the Arrogant Sea from a concert pick I wrote about several months ago, but I just can’t say enough about Matthew Gray’s musical-turned-family indie folk endeavor. This Thursday, January 13th, catch Matthew solo at The Kessler Theater in Dallas, Texas. There aren’t many sextets that would work as a solo act, but I feel confident that Matthew and the Arrogant Sea is one of the few. The songs are filled with gorgeous gossamer melodies, and Matthew’s fragile, haunting vocals will linger in the small corners of your mind for days.
Opening for Matthew Gray is Ryan Thomas Becker, one half of the critically acclaimed blues rock duo RTB2 that swept last year’s Dallas Observer awards. I’ve seen RTB2 perform a number of times, and Ryan is one of the most charismatic frontmen I’ve ever seen. I’ve yet to see him perform solo, but after hearing his complex and difficult to categorize album Neighborhoof, I can’t even begin to imagine how it would translate live. But that’s the beauty of creative minds like Ryan Thomas Becker’s and Matthew Gray’s: they’re not only willing to traverse new musical territory, but they do it with a style and flair that transforms music into art. If you’re in the Dallas area next week, come see two of the area’s best-known musical staples perform live at The Kessler. Doors open at 6:00pm and the show begins at 8:00pm. Tickets are $5 during the pre-sale on the Kessler Theater website or $7 at the door. The Kessler is located at 1230 West Davis Street in Dallas, Texas.”
