Recent Capitol HIll Block Party main stage partiers, The Redwood Plan, will be headlining this three set night at the Crocodile Cafe. Their bouncy, energy infused dance punk has shot them into local acclaim in merely a year since their formation. Joining them will be the somewhat mellower Fading Connection, who will be celebrating the event with the release of their new album title Neutron. Fading Connection, who are returning to the music scene after being dormant since 2005, will be introducing the crowd to their unique brand of electro, dance and ambient melody.

Next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Leffinge Belgium will be home to the little-known Leffingelueren, a music and arts festival that has been featuring all manner of international bands and musicians since 1977. With over 30 bands in attendance, the festival boasts many great up and coming artists performing all day, every day. Brit superstar rocker Paul Weller will be headlining Friday along with Canadian group Wolf Parade (see our live footage of Wolf Parade performing at The Wiltern here), and Brooklyn experimental band Phosphorescent. Saturday’s packed lineup features Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys fame, Belgian indie rock group Absynthe Minded, and my personal highlight of the festival, Ebony Bones. Ebony Bones is female recording artist from the UK who reminds me of all the great and wacky elements of Erykah Badu and M.I.A, complete with Afro-funk beats and punk rock riffs.
In addition to the great American alt-country institution Wilco, US dream pop band Deer Tick will be playing out the end of the festival on Sunday along with Belgium’s blues-garage band The Black Box Revelation and others.
If you’re in Europe and are ready to get festival-feisty, then don’t hesitate to hop a train to Belgium! Tickets are approximately $42 US dollars for a day pass, or $93 for the whole weekend. There is on-site camping available for $12, and the campgrounds will be open from Friday at noon until Monday at noon. Leffingeluren is an all ages event, and children under 12 are allowed in free as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult. For more information, please visit:

Who: Phoenix with Neon Indian
Where: The Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA
When: Sunday, September 19th at 7:00pm
Cost: $50 General Admission, available here
Age Restrictions: All Ages
Phoenix is the end all of pop rock, and their live show is supposedly even better than our expectations would have us believe. At least that’s what everyone has been telling me in the weeks leading up to their show this week at the SB Bowl, and I’m inclined to check it out for myself. I would recommend that you do the same, especially when you consider that Neon Indian will be opening for them, and I do know from experience how feverishly fun their live set can be.
