Los Angeles – Fueling the gentle but bright fire ignited by first two singles, “Courage” and “Hot Scary Summer,” Dublin-based indie folk band, Villagers, has now released a third single, “The Soul Serene,” as the next part of their piecemeal preview for their upcoming new album, Darling Arithmetic. The elegant tune premiered earlier today alongside a brand new interview with O’Brien. “The Soul Serene” is available for listening from the YouTube video below.
Similarly paralleling the fact that this track is the third from the new record, Darling Arithmetic is also Villagers’s third studio release and it follows the highly received combination of Conor O’Brien’s debut, Becoming a Jackal, and its sophomore successor, Awayland – both of which are held in notably positive regard, having each been nominated for Britain’s esteemed Mercury Music Prize. This time around, Villagers’s music presents a poised and intimate set of songs dealing with love and relationships.
In support of Darling Arithmetic, Villagers just played Brooklyn’s Warsaw this past Monday night with Laura Marling. Tonight the band is headlining a sold out show at Union Pool.
