Normally in L.A. the indicative sign that a show will be amazing- and PACKED- is the lack of parking available. Apparently in London, it’s lack of available subway space and underground canals that in one feel swoop becomes akin to cattle farms with people trying to navigate their way out but our unbearably kept in. In case I had any doubt the headlining Deadmau5 show at Victoria Park would be killer- it was now a sure thing.
Thankfully my lack of London GPS capabilities was no problem last Saturday, June 11- I just had to follow the trillions of peoples fighting their way to the finish line of Victoria Park, pre-gaming and busting out moves all along the way.
Before the ensuing Deadmau5 insanity I was eager to be entertained by the likes of Skrillex, DJ Hype, and several others that not only knocked my socks off, it had people climbimg the walls (and tents, in some case. Note to reader: I do NOT advise that activity- they we’re swiftly escorted off the premises!)
Standing for 12 hours straight didn’t exactly serve to hinder mine (or anyone elses) dancing capabilities and the dance-tastic wayward carnival was in full effect under the small tented stage, successfully getting everyone even more hyped for that night’s coming attraction! Literally- you know it’s going to be a good day when even the relentless London weather cooperates. Note to self- buy umbrella.
Aside from my non-stop dance party pre-Deadmau5 nothing was stopping me from jumping into the fun. The intro not only included the music icon’s stellar beats but they were accompanied with clever lights and pictorials that suffice it to say would be an 80s kid’s dream come true (Mario was amazing- but my fave was the Rubik’s cube!)
A few songs later and Sophie burts onto stage to perform the single off the latest release 4×4=12 which turned into a coquettish onstage cat and Mau5 game. Safe to say it was a cute crowd pleaser for sure! As if you needed a reason to get up and dance this summer- Deadmau5 is most certainly giving you one- and you can find out where to join the party next HERE!
