Get ready east coast, there’s a new sultry songstress that will be making her debut on your side of the country this week. For the first time, Emily Simonian will play shows in the music hotbeds of New York and Boston this coming Thursday and Saturday respectively. The piano vixen is fresh off a successful run in Austin at SXSW where she played several well-received showcases to legions of industry insiders and fans alike.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with her sound, Simonian combines elements of piano-driven pop mixed with a classical music background with a splash of R&B on top. Don’t let the pretty, petite blonde-haired, Orange County-bred gal deceive you: her vocals are comparable to early Mariah Carey, while channeling Alicia Keys. In addition to debuting some of her latest material, she will be performing songs off her acclaimed album, Pale Green.
Her show in New York is at Googie’s, which is above The Living Room on the Lower East Side and her show in Boston is at The Burren in Somerville with Jared Salvatore. The second show is somewhat of a homecoming gig for the talented singer since she studied at the world famous Berklee College of Music for a semester.
Rarely are there opportunities to catch a talented performer who has the complete package at such a small, intimate venue. Fortunately for fans of good music in New York City and Boston, you can get a glimpse of talented singer before she plays larger venues in the near future. Simonian will bring the talent and charisma that has made her a well-known figure in Southern California to these cities, which is guaranteed to will be the beginning of a lovely relationship between music lovers and this terrific artist.
