I recently remarked on the terrific DIY quality of the space that is currently known as 285 Kent Ave when I saw Ducktails there. Now another great band is playing there – Woods. Along with White Fence and Spectre Folk, Woods will play Tomorrow night, Thursday April 28th at 8pm. This should be a great eclectic and experimental show that you can both dance to and zone out to. Just listening to these bands makes me think, I wonder what their live show would be like? Probably magical. If they can recreate something like this video for “To Clean,” it’s something I want to see.

Yeah it’s weird, but deep down you know you want to be at that party just to see what happens next. It’s good messy, lo-fi, fuzzy fun. However, not all of their songs are like that; some of them are actually pretty straightforward folk songs. Thus, I predict that their show will be a healthy balance of clean folk and experimental psychedelic jamming, served up hot and fresh.
The show starts at 8pm at 285 Kent Ave. Tickets are $10 and the show is all ages. All tickets are sold at the door the night of, so go get ‘em, kids.
Here’s the first track off their new album Sun & Shade, “Pushing Onlys”

Sun & Shade drops June 14, but you can also preview/buy lots of other songs on iTunes from their previous six releases. That’s right, these guys have been around for a good minute. Better catch them now before weird is the new normal. Oh, wait…
