MP3 Premiere: Ploy – “Future Voyager”

Electronic acts are a dime a dozen these days, but there’s something to be said for the groups that incorporate this genre with another one, and that’s just what Gil Wojcik and Justin Victoria attempt and succeed with their music. The duo have known each other since high school but came from two different musical backgrounds – traditional acoustic and electronic DJ. It wasn’t until last year that the Washington D.C.-based musicians decided to mesh their passions, and that summer they released their first EP as PLOY

Since then, the two-piece has been garnering buzz around our nation’s capital and beyond, which has landed Wojcik and Victoria supporting slots for the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and The 1975. Today, PLOY is celebrating the release of its second EP, Young For A Moment, and we’re excited to premiere the album’s latest single, “Future Voyager.”

As the song title suggests, “Future Voyager,” begins with a shimmering, space-age synth melody that quickly builds with drum machines and electronic bleeps and bloops. When the vocals kick in, it’s clear we’re going on a space adventure and PLOY are our guides. Both the instrumentation and the vocal melodies soar smoothly through the speakers as they take us to the moon, sun, Mars and Jupiter, and we gladly follow, dancing the whole way.
