New Year’s Eve can be quite an ordeal in a city like Los Angeles. Dance clubs and bars exploit the holiday by charging obscene cover charges and even more obscene drink prices. So where is one to go who doesn’t want to deal with the club scene but still wants a kickass party? How about going to see some badass females melt your brain with good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll? I’d say that sounds pretty bitchin’.
Club Nokia is hosting a NYE event of extravagant proportions. Local indie rock darlings, Best Coast, will first stun you with its lo-fi, surf pop (and front lady Bethany Cosentino’s adorable demeanor), and then the queen of rock, Wanda Jackson, will finish you off with her gritty rockabilly.
If you are a true rock ‘n’ roll fan, this is a show you cannot miss. Wanda Jackson pioneered the rockabilly sound and has been making music since the 1950s. This will be a spectacular show featuring some amazing female musicians.
Show starts at 8 pm. Tickets start at $25 (for general admission). All ages.
