It’s been a quiet few years for Portland, Oregon-based duo The Helio Sequence. The two-piece, comprised of singer/guitarist Brandon Summers and drummer Benjamin Weikel, have released four studio LPs, the last being 2008’s Keep Your Eyes Ahead. In the four years since the electro-folk-pop outfit’s last album, the guys have kept a low profile, but it looks like that’s all about to change.
The band recently announced news of an upcoming album. Entitled Negotiations, the LP was written, recorded and produced by Summers and Weikel, and from the sounds of its first single, “October,” the twosome has honed in on its ability to blend ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes with cunning folk lyrics. You can download the single here.
In addition to releasing a new record, the boys will be embarking on an international tour beginning in September. The tour will take them through France, Belgium, Denmark and the UK, as well as U.S.’s West Coast. Negotiations is set for a September 11 release via Sub Pop Records.
