After two impressive dates in NYC’s Mercury Lounge in 2011, and selling out the Bowery Ballroom just this week, it is strange to watch people take notice of The Boxer Rebellion‘s brand of international-alternative rock. After an appearance in Drew Barrymore’s romantic comedy, “Going the Distance”, The Boxer Rebellion are bringing their energy and their record-breaking talent to Brooklyn, NY. Also within 2011, the band made history by becoming the 1st unsigned band to enter the US Billboard 100 Albums Chart on a digital-only release: their album UNION. How’s that for buzz?
I’m particularly excited about the show tonight because I prefer the Music Hall of Williamsburg over the Mercury Lounge and the Bowery Ballroom, but also because I think the Music Hall tends to attract a more eclectic crowd. It will be interesting to see the proportions of The Boxer Rebellion’s fans versus live music fans and industry types still trying to fathom where the band came from.
General admission tickets for tonight’s show are still available through Ticketmaster, and you may be able to purchase them at the door, but these guys havea penchant for selling out shows so buy them online and be safe. See you there, but if you can’t make it, the band will be traveling to DC, Chicago, Michigan and California in April before playing overseas. Check their tour schedule for more info!
