In this installment of BackStory, Florida’s Orange Avenue shares the story and video behind their song “Just Refrain.”
This is the first song and also our first single that we are pushing right now that is off of our EP titled RESET.  We shot a video for this song at Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s nightclub called Whiskey River in Charlotte, NC. The video features Miss Sprint Cup 2010, Paige Duke and also Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2010 Shana Prevette.  The video has been featured at the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Men’s/Women’s NCAA Final Four basketball tournament.  We also have a website dedicated to it called www.justrefrain.com where the video is posted and our fans have the opportunity to download the song for free.  This song anyone can relate to.  The meaning of the song is shown in great detail when you watch the video.  The point of the song is that feeling of bottling all your emotions up inside and not confronting issues for the sake of keeping the relationship.  You know how sometimes your boyfriend, girlfriend, family member, or even just a friend make you so mad or frustrated.  Well you get to that point and you just want to tell them how it is, but you decide to “Just Refrain” because you know this is the best way to handle the situation.

“JUST REFRAIN”

Don’t don’t don’t say what you mean to say

Say what you mean to say

Just refrain

You’ve gone out drinkin with your friends tonight

And you’re not answering your phone

I don’t know where you’re at tonight

While I’m sitting here alone

I’m goin crazy I’m goin crazy

I’m bangin my head against the wall

One two three maybe four or five drinks

How many will he buy to try and sweep you off your feet

Don’t don’t don’t say what you mean to say

Say what you mean to say

Just refrain

I know that shell come around again

She’ll come around again

Like she did before

Before

I guess I wont bother to call again

Since I must be on ignore

Either you’re doing this on purpose or

Maybe you’re just on the floor

I’m think maybe I’m thinking maybe

I need to get the hell out of here

One two three hours of staring at my ceiling

And you’re not with me
