Friday of SXSW and I took a break from running back and forth across downtown Austin to make sure I was available to GPS my way on over for round 2 of Sideways Media’s Texas Tornado party! The entire lineup was totally kickass, but a couple groups stood out and A Silent Film was definitely one of them!
The inside room of Austin’s Red Eyed Fly venue was completely packed, and it was a struggle to get anywhere close to stageside- but definitely worth the endeavor. The energetic U.K. spawned A Silent Film had the entire packed room up and moving, rocking out to new stuff and a few old favorites (“you will leave a mark” is a track I never get tired of!)
I snuck around back to catch up with the British band responsible for my latest CD obsession. “The City The Sleeps” is still being held hostage in my car, and relief efforts and information of how to help are forthcoming!
Looks like ASF have a VERY busy year ahead of them, but I can safely say that I along with everyone in L.A. will be happy to have them hear with their soundtrack to rock out to. And, insider tip from yours truly- after listening to tracks 1 and 3, make sure you give “Feather White” a serious listen- the haunting song will coindcidentally leave a mark.
