Tonight, Tha Boogie takes their acclaimed stage show to Los Angeles’ Viper Room for their first area show in several months. The Los Angeles-based, Rancho Cucamonga-bred have been one of the most talked about new bands in the area for sometime.

Lead by charismatic frontman Nu-School and his cousin, the vivacious Korus, and the ferocious drumming of Lejin the band has been making waves and is under the expert tuteledge of renowned Grammy award winning producer Raphael Saadiq. The band has cultivated its sound from a variety of genres and has described their sound as being “The Cure-meets-No Doubt-meets Tha Boogie.”

The band met Saadiq through the most conventional ways for an emerging mid-2000s band: MySpace. They sent the producer a message saying that they’d love to work with him someday and to their surprise, he responded almost immediately with his phone number saying he’d love to work with the trio. From there, the band took off and hasn’t looked back.

Recently, the band’s exposure was helped by being a finalist in the Rolling Stone “Choose A Cover” competition, which featured 16 bands from across the country fighting for a chance to receive a recording contract and featured on the cover of the legendary publication. Though they didn’t win, Tha Boogie’s exposure moved from local darlings to national powerhouse.

For anyone in the West Hollywood area Wednesday night, you have a chance to catch one of the true up-and-coming acts in Los Angeles and if you can make it, you won’t be disappointed.
