VVHILE: Bigger, Better, Faster ‘MORE’

VVHILE

Berlin – Since 2011, Serbian band VVHILE has been quickly gaining sonic steam, working at a pace that is as dizzying for the listener as it is the producers themselves. With the release of More, this band is channeling those 90s bands that the decade was best known and celebrated for. Creating music that resonates with fans and stays with you after the last note is played is the ultimate goal of any musician and this duo of Andrija Spičanović and Stevan Ćirović have managed to do that singing in tandem and against the grain, resulting in a sound that proves that Serbia is threatening to become the new destination for finding the next sonic sensation.

In this digital age, DIY bands are more the norm than ever before, but this label proves a strength rather than weakness with consummate artists. VVHILE has released some music that has not only connected with listeners online, but has given them a following that bands older and more experienced could be proud of. My experiences in Serbia have left me with the feeling that there is always something more to discover artistically, and this band is exactly the answer to that question.

Standout tracks on this production include “Nobody Knows,” “VVHILE Things,” and the first single, “Wrong Face, Wrong Palm.” Pure rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts will even appreciate two Serbians singing in a language other than their own to ultimately prove that music, at its most effective, goes beyond a language and is in fact the universal language that is meant to unite us all. VVHILE, in essence, is loud and proud rock that delivers. With drums blaring, guitars a-blazing, and shared vocals that threaten to crash and burn at any moment, it is the perfect combination of nature versus nature that makes this duo a rock ‘n’ roll-head’s dream. And just when you think these two are only relegated to a pure rock sound, tracks that change the notion include “Vanity,” which is a noisy pop offering that ventures just to the left of their rockier material. “Fecal Gaze” also shows off how a dramatic drop in volume can create an even deeper effect on the listener, as they show the kind of restraint that more experienced bands have already mastered.

For music lovers that are looking for music that offers style and substance, VVHILE is out to prove that it still exists, and possibly in cities and countries most would never dare to delve. As music becomes a global commodity more than ever before, VVHILE has proven that the best music may not be in your neck of the woods…

but it’s out there.
