Whether you’re celebrating the Summer Solstice solo, with friends, or that special someone, Shana Halligan‘s sultry vocals are the perfect evening refreshment after the longest day of the year. She’s playing solo at the The Bootleg Theater tonight, and though you may not recognize the name you might know her as one half of the duo Bitter:Sweet (see video below). In addition to writing and performing with Bitter:Sweet over the last seven years, she also lended her vocals to two tracks on Serj Tankian‘s 2010 solo album Imperfect Harmonies and Thievery Corporation‘s impending release Culture of Fear. She compares her own upcoming solo album Richmond Parade to the likes of Gnarls Barkley and Empire of the Sun, but maintains that “The music is still very playful and sexy, but it also has more depth, soul and heavier beats”. The album is due out late this year, and I can’t wait to hear what new songs she has to share with us this evening at The Bootleg.

Tickets for tonight’s show are $10 and can be purchased in advance here as well as at the door. The Bootleg Theater is located at 2220 Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles.
